We’re expecting a warm end to this abbreviated work and school week. Temperatures are already in the 70s early this morning, and they should have no trouble reaching 90 this afternoon. Winds are starting to increase from the south, so at least we’ll have a good breeze through the day. That wind will also blow in much drier air over us this afternoon, so while it will be hot, it won’t be very humid. Humidity levels could drop down into the 30% range this afternoon, which coupled with the southerly breeze, should take the edge off the heat…if only a little bit.
The humidity will begin to creep back in here tonight, but for the most part we should remain dry. There could be a few showers north of Syracuse as Saturday morning approaches. During the day Saturday, it will be muggy, but we are not expecting a lot of rain. The remnants of Hannah are forecast to remain too far to our east to hit us directly. Our precipitation Saturday will be tied to a cold front that is forecast to move through central New York during the middle of the day tomorrow. There isn’t a lot of instability in the atmosphere, so that’s why we’ve taken thunder out of the forecast. Nonetheless, a few midday showers will likely interrupt outdoor plans Saturday.
Behind that cold front, cooler, and less humid air will move into our area, setting us up for a nice Sunday. Instead of temperatures in the 80s to near 90, afternoon highs Sunday will be closer to where they should be for early September: in the mid 70s.
