High pressure that was in firm control of our weather on Sunday will loosen its control today.  This high will be pushed to the southwest of us which will actually draw in slightly warmer air into Central New York.  That is why we think temperatures will be a few degrees warmer than what we saw this weekend.

You will notice more in the way of cloudiness around today, which will be due to a cold front dropping down from the northeast.  This front won’t get as far west as Central New York because of the strength of this high, so we think the thickest clouds along with any showers will be to the northeast of Syracuse.

Tuesday will again feature temperatures well above normal with highs in the upper 70s.  We should start out the day with mostly sunny skies, but the clouds will be on the increase during the afternoon.  These clouds will be in advance of a strong cold front that will bring a bout of chilly weather for the end of the workweek.

The best chance for widespread showers will be Tuesday night and into Wednesday as this front moves through.  Temperatures will still be mild on Wednesday with highs in the 60s, but then take a plunge into the 50s the rest of the week.

The air will be so cool that we think lake effect rain showers will develop off of Lake Ontario on Thursday and Friday.  While it will continue to be cool into this upcoming weekend, we think it will be dry as high pressure once again takes control of our weather.
