The greatest singer of the rock era, according to this Rolling Stone survey is the queen of soul, Aretha Franklin.
Some other names you might be wondering about: Marvine Gay is sixth. Bob Dylan comes in seventh. James Brown in tenth. Paul McCartney 11. Mick Jagger is 16th and Michael Jackson in 25th. Jackson was also the youngest singer on the list.
