Mariah of Solvay asks,  "What is the maximum or record of sit-up's in a minute?"

It’s hard to find a world record for sit-ups, or abdominal curls, in 60 seconds, because most records chart endurance over a longer period.  But we did find some interesting stories on the Internet.

Jim Clark of Elk River, MN, managed 2201 sit-ups in an hour at the Mall of America, in June of 2006.  That’s about 36.6 situps per minute.  (Read about his feat at http://www.erstarnews.com/2006/June/21strand.html.)

The Brazilian fitness instructor, Edmar Freitas, broke his own record of 111,000 consecutive sit-ups in 2003, when he did 133,986 in 30 hours at Pinheirão, a soccer stadium in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil.  That averages almost 75 sit-ups a minute!  (Find more on his story at http://fitness.testing.8m.com/sit-ups.htm.)
