Registered dietician Mary Henson prepared these rules for our "9 Kids Challenge" team.  Try to remember these rules EVERY time you eat (even on stressful days!)

9 Kids Challenge RULES FOR EATING:

  1. Drink a glass of water 15 minutes before each meal.
  2. Chew every bite 20 times.
  3. Take smaller bites.
  4. It takes 20 minutes before your brain even knows you put food in your stomach!  Don’t go for seconds until it has been at least 20 minutes, and even then just have more vegetables.
  5. Leave a little bit of every type of food on your plate.
  6. Eat smaller portions (NORMAL portions).
  7. Use smaller plates or bowls.
  8. Put your fork down (or the food if it is a finger food) between every bite.
  9. Eat at least 3 bites of every food on your plate (especially vegetables!).

Remember:  SLOW DOWN! Taste every bite!
