JOEL'S LOG   9/28/07

This week, the group seems to getting acclimated to the changes that have been induced for this extension program.  Not only have we increased the interaction time with the nutritional component, we have initiated a higher intensity period of functional-cardio for each session.  The kids have gotten time-efficient enough with that segment that we have been able to increase the intensity in their strength program as well.
The focus at this stage continues to be the nutritional component.  As stated at the end of the first 12-week session, the performance assessments all showed improvements from a baseline perspective.  This was a clear indication that the results needed were going to be achieved through nutrition as the focal point.  It is a process requiring many lifetstyle changes with food in every household, and no one can expect significant change overnight.  However, the interaction between parent, child, and dietician at this level has shown success and we hope to continue at this pace to achieve some real changes.
