GET READY FOR YEAR 2!

The 9 Kids Challenge is already a year old! The goal of our partnership with SUNY Upstate Medical University is to fight childhood obesity. Over the coming months, we’re going to broaden our focus, to highlight programs all over Central New York.

For the past year, we’ve been following young students from around the area as they battled against inactivity and overeating. They’ve been working out three times a week and trying to adopt healthier lifestyles. The five students have lost a combined 120 pounds over the last year! They’ve all been invited to continue working with trainer Joel Brown at Training Champions Institute in East Syracuse, and we’ll continue to check in with them every now and then.

Now, it’s time for Year 2, and we need your help. We want to hear about what’s working… programs you know that encourage better nutrition, more activity, and a healthier lifestyle for kids. It could be something going on at your school, a parks program, a community-wide initiative, or just an individual who is really making a difference. We’ll share their stories on NewsChannel 9, to encourage others to join the fight.
