The flu has arrived in central New York – that’s part of What's Going Around this week.

We start in Liverpool, where Dr. Dracker has seen his first confirmed case of the flu.  The child did not get a flu shot, and Dr. Dracker is reminding parents there's still time to protect your children from the flu.

Summer Wood Pediatrics has also seen its first case of RSV, which starts out as a runny nose and low grade fever, and progresses with difficulty breathing and eating.

In Camillus, Dr. Rovall is busy treating little ones with croup; it starts as a cold and then the barky cough comes on.  She's also seeing sore throats which are viral.

In Auburn, strep throat is going around along with the stomach bug, coughs and sinus infections.

At the Northeast Urgent Care in Fayetteville, they're seeing strep throat in both children and adults, upper respiratory infections and they tell us lots of college kids home for Thanksgiving last week brought mono home with them.

At Brighton Pediatrics, they're seeing lots of stomach bug cases right now – also, viral sore throats and coughs.

In Pulaski, Dr. Carguello says the big thing this week is upper respiratory infections, and at Wee Care Pediatrics in Cicero, a cough that hangs on for two weeks is still going around along with the stomach bug, pink eye and rashes.

What’s Going Around is our way of letting you know what illnesses are out there; your doctor can tell you about the best treatment.
