Syracuse, New York (WSYR-TV) - The state department of health says it has discovered West Nile Virus in two crows in Onondaga County.
One was found on James Street in East Syracuse, the other was at the Shotwell Park in the city of Syracuse. The birds are the first to test positive for the virus in the county this year.
Health commissioner Cynthia Morrow said, "It is not unusual to have a crow positive for West Nile Virus in August. It is essential that the public practice personal protection measures to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes."
