What's up with the shingles shots? You can't find them anywhere and there's a backlog at CNY doctor's offices. The shingles vaccine is recommended for people over the age of 60. Local doctors offices we checked with say the manufacturer of the vaccine can't keep up with demand. One internist we talked with says his patients are putting their names on a waiting list and there are several dozen people on that list. It's too bad people have to wait he says, because the shot is very effective. Not only does it prevents shingles but, it's especially good at protecting people from getting the painful lesions that can hang on for months. If you want the shingles shot, call your doctor and get on the list.
