Topping tonight's "Health Headlines", U.S. food safety officials have announced that eating a tiny bit of melamine, the chemical responsible for a global food safety scare, is not harmful unless it's in baby formula.
"White Rabbit" candies in California, which are imported from China, also contained the chemical, but the FDA says formula's here in America are safe because they are not imported from China.
More than 54,000 children in China have fallen ill and at least four babies have died after drinking formula tainted with the chemical. Since then, researchers have found the industrial component in other products like chocolates and coffee drinks.
