“Is acupuncture effective for plantar fasciitis? My insurance will only pay 25-percent of the bill. I've tried over-the-counter inserts but they didn't work and I’m still in pain after three visits to the podiatrist.”

Acupuncture can help but results do vary. We checked with a Crouse Hospital physician who's also a New York State-certified acupuncturist. He says he's treated at least a dozen patients who have the foot problem.  Most patients respond to acupuncture within four to six sessions or less. And some request or require intermittent treatments for maintenance. But he says he's never seen anyone go on to have surgery.
